Public Workshop - 8/21/2021

The Town of Hamilton held a public workshop to hear ideas, thoughts and concerns from the public about the 9 Mile Property that the town owns. The workship was very successful with about 30 people in attendance. Results are below.

9 MILE PARK -  PUBLIC WORKSHOP (8/21/21) FORMAT:

PROJECT INTRODUCTION: The Town of Hamilton has secured the 7.34 acre property along Wickwire Road adjacent to the Sangerfield River.  The site has been informally used to launch kayaks in the past and the town plans to provide public access for kayaking.  The site also has archeological significance related to ancient Native American Settlements.   The town is interested in finding out what other program elements residents and neighbors are interested in seeing occur in the future at the park.

WORKSHOP FORMAT:  Participants are asked to discuss and record their thoughts and ideas regarding the park.  We encourage review of the displayed materials, touring through the property, and most importantly,- recording your thoughts, concerns and ideas.

  1. Sign-in:  Let us know your name and email address for future communication.
  1. Precedents/Maps:  The project tables have some images displayed for the purposes of discussion.  You may look over these examples to see if they spark some thoughts or discussion regarding the park.
  1. Tour Property: We suggest taking a walk around the property to better understand the terrain, vegetation, and open areas.
  1. Concerns and Issues:  Identify any issues or concerns you or your organization have regarding uses, maintenance, ecological sensitivity, safety, etc..  List your thoughts on the “ISSUES and CONCERNS” sheet.
  1. Ideas / Opportunities:  Share your thoughts on park development, uses, phasing, programming, etc. on the sheet titled “Ideas and Opportunities”.  No idea is too silly or trivial.  Often those ideas spark discussion that leads to something exciting.  Don’t be shy.
